For over 55 years we have been integral to
Oak Park and surrounding communities.

our mission

We foster every child's intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth in a play-based environment.

Stimulate Growth

Early childhood programs should be planned to stimulate the balanced growth of a child: physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually.

Neither Hurried or Rushed

Each child has a unique rate of development which should not be hurried or forced. Different levels of development and ability are expected, valued and accepted.

Parent’s Stay Involved

Parents and families are an important part of each child's life and should be actively involved in their child's education.

Hands-On Experience

Young children learn best through self-selected, hands-on experiences and active participation with their environment. An environment rich in sensory experiences encourages a child to see and experience more.

Our Faculty

Passionate educators who nurture individual growth.

Family Community

Pilgrim Community Preschool relies on the service and commitment of families to help foster a positive educational environment and build a strong sense of community. After all, Community is our middle name! Parents are always welcome in the classroom and we pride ourselves on being a community to all. Sharing in classroom experiences gives you an inside look into the development and growth of your child throughout the year.

Families can also serve as a room parent, School Board Member and participate in fundraising efforts and community events. Participation in these roles gives parents a chance to see the other, non-classroom side of Pilgrim Community Preschool and contribute new ideas, while instilling a greater sense of community.

Classroom Involvement

Enjoy meeting your child’s teacher at your home before school even begins. Meeting in this comfortable environment for your child enhances the personal relationship between families and their teacher. Our doors are always open to families, you may visit the classroom at any time. We schedule two conferences per year in November and March, and are accessible through messaging, email, phone or informal conversations at drop-off and pick-up times. Families are encouraged to join in classroom events and activities including special celebrations, volunteering to read a book or share your talents and interests! Act as a room parent to have a deeper involvement in the classroom.

Board of Directors and Committees

Pilgrim Community Preschool is governed by a Board of Directors, which is comprised of 5 Pilgrim Congregational Church members, Parent representatives, our Director and a Teacher. The Board meets monthly on the second to discusses and votes on various topics, including community events, annual benefit plans, policies, tuition, and long-term objectives.  All parents are welcome at every board meeting. If you are interested in serving on the Board, please contact the school Director.

Fundraising

Each year we ask all families to volunteer their time by participating in Donut Days events scheduled in the fall. Donut Days are a fun opportunity to make donuts alongside our PCP families and staff at the Oak Park Farmer’s Market! You can get a glimpse behind the scenes in this Wednesday Journal article. Through the year, we encourage families to participate in other fundraising efforts, including Cookie Walk & Holiday Artisan Market, Dine Around Days, Annual Benefits and others as planned. Fundraising support is vital to help our school operate and keep costs down and tuition low. Your contributions of time and talent make Pilgrim Community Preschool unique and we appreciate the involvement and experience each parent brings to our community.

We are here to serve you.

Our top priority is serving the families in our community. If you have any questions or are wanting to find out if Pilgrim School might be a fit for you, contact us today.
