Things to know about the beginning of school

Home Visits: One of your child’s teachers will schedule a home visit with you. He/she will hand out a packet which includes a school calendar, DCFS Health form and many other important papers we will need before the start of school.  Please note that the health form and copy of a birth certificate is required before the first full week of school.

Abbreviated first week of school:  Our shortened first 2 days schedule is meant to give your child the transition time he/she may need.  The children are scheduled in two groups for one hour those first 2 days (your child’s schedule is included in the packet). On the third day, the classes meet for their regularly scheduled times. We would like you to stay upstairs in the parlor while your child is in the classroom. If for any reason your child needs you, the teacher will let you know. Promise.

Parent Orientation Evening: On Wednesday, September 4 at 6:30 all parents will meet in the church parlor. It will your time to meet the director, board members and to learn more about Pilgrim! You will receive your Parent Handbook that night as well.

At 7:00, you will visit your child’s classroom. Meet the other parents in your room! Your teachers will explain the procedures, schedule and activities of the classroom and answer any additional questions you may have.

I am looking forward to the start of the school year.  I can’t wait to get to know you and your family! If you have any questions, concerns, praise or you would like more information please contact me.  My office is upstairs and always open to you.

Sincerely,

Maryanne Peterson, Director
